Dear Friends,

As the saying goes, the only constant is change, and it’s no different for the Prudence Island School Foundation (PISF). With the possibility of change on the horizon, the Foundation may adapt its operation for the 2024-2025 academic year, if the situation warrants it.

If there is a lack of enrollment for the upcoming school year, or in any future school year, PISF may suspend formal classroom activities for a time. We will stay flexible and responsive to the needs of Prudence Island children and their families. PISF remains ready to provide a school-year program and is committed to regular evaluation as potential enrollment develops.

The mission of the Prudence Island School Foundation is to provide Prudence Island children the opportunity to be educated on Prudence Island as well as to raise funds to support educational programs and the perpetual existence of the historic one-room schoolhouse on Prudence Island, RI.

Regardless of any changes in the near or long term, the Board of Directors remains committed to the organization’s mission and continues to operate in pursuit of this. As part of this, we will also explore alternative opportunities to provide educational programs, including regular summer camp activities.

The Prudence Island School Foundation, which owns the 128 year-old schoolhouse, will always repair, maintain, and operate the building for use by the Prudence Island community.

We appreciate your continued support and would not exist without it.

Questions should be directed to prudenceislandschoolfoundation[at]gmail.com.

Sincerely,
PISF Board of Directors
