Education Options for Prudence Island Families

Parents/Guardians on Prudence Island have several options for the education of their children:

  • Enroll in Portsmouth Public Schools
  • Homeschool
  • Apply to the Prudence Island School Foundation (PISF), a tuition-based*, non-profit program for students in grades pre-K through 12.

Prudence Island School Foundation Program

Acceptance into the Prudence Island School Foundation’s program is based on student needs, parent/guardian goals for their child(ren), and the Foundation’s ability to meet those needs and goals. The application process may take up to two months to complete and there is no guarantee of acceptance. If you are considering enrolling your child(ren) into the Foundation’s program, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible. A meeting will be arranged to discuss your child(ren)’s educational needs and to further discuss our program. We ask that you bring all relevant, available material such as progress reports, report cards, testing results, and/or past or current IEPs.

*Students in grades K-4 do not have to pay tuition due to an agreement between the PISF and the Town of Portsmouth.
